Opihr Gin's Stories

Opihr Far East Story 1/1

As we look at the Far East and the beginning of the Spice Route, one of the key flavour profiles of the region is ‘warmth and spice’. A naturally perfect fit for OPIHR gin, this pushes the boundaries of spiced gin even further and adds an authentic element found only in Asian cuisine. The Far East Edition is inspired by the use of unique, fragrant and warming Szechuan peppers (the seed husks of Chinese ash trees), traditionally used in staple dishes, such as hot pots and the main ingredient in five spice.

An unmistakeably bold, intense and richly spiced London Dry gin with flavours from the Far East – the smoky notes of Szechuan Pepper delivers a lingering warmth, that along with invigorating spices, creates an exceptional flavour combination.

Opihr Generic Story 1/2

DISCOVER THE JOURNEY ALONG THE ANCIENT SPICE ROUTE

Ophir is a region famed for its wealth and riches which prospered during the
reign of King Solomon. The King regularly received cargoes of gold, silver and spices from Ophir and whilst its exact location remains a mystery, it is thought to have been in the Orient along the Ancient Spice Route – a network of sea routes that link the East with the West.

The routes stretch from the West coast of Japan through the Islands of
Indonesia, around India and the Middle East – and from there, across the Mediterranean and into Europe. Traditionally merchants would travel thousands of miles along the route, trading exotic spices and botanicals from distant lands.

Opihr Generic Story 2/2

THE OPIHR RANGE

To continue the journey of flavour discovery, OPIHR launched three Regional Edition gins – Aromatic Bitters Edition, Arabian Edition and Far East Edition. Each are routed in particular regions along the Ancient Spice Route, drawing inspiration from unique and exotic global flavour trends.

The three Regional Editions combine the unmistakable taste of OPIHR London Dry Gin with distinctive botanicals from along the Ancient Spice Route. They reflect OPIHR's increasingly adventurous exploration of authentic regional flavours, making its gins distinctly unique and bringing new and exciting tastes to the palate. And let's not forget about the ready-to-drink collection – all you need for the perfect gin cocktail is to simply twist and go.
