THE DUBLIN LIBERTIES IRISH WHISKEYS - THE STORY
The Dublin Liberties range is inspired by the stories and the streets of the Dublin Liberties distillery. This range allows to establish a clear connection to the city and weave a common story, threading the range together, giving something ownable and unique in Irish whiskey, rooted in the corner stone on Mill Street, the Dublin Liberties Distillery.
THE LIBERTIES, DUBLIN CITY
The Dublin Liberties Distillery is nestled in the heart of Dublin's historic distilling district called the Liberties. The Liberties is a place where every stone tells a story. History is buried deep within its walls. It was the bedrock for the working class people of Dublin, whether you were high in society, low in society, no matter what your vice was everyone wanted to be in the Liberties. In the late 1800’s/1900’s there Liberties was the hub for creatives, thinkers, distillers, brewers….there were no rules.
An area known for centuries as ‘Hell’. This wild and wayward quarter of old Dublin, nestled outside the city walls, was notorious for mayhem and riotous behaviour with danger and intrigue waiting on every cobbled corner. But it was industrious too. Alongside the old distilleries were weaving mills, forges, printing-presses, tanneries and illicit taverns. Everyone from tradesmen, low born visitors and the cream of society were all welcome.
OAK DEVIL 5 YEAR OLD IRISH WHISKEY
To enter hell, you needed to walk under an archway where a carved Oak Devil stood, and this is where our tales begin. On the label the Oak Devil stands watch proudly over the first of the Liberties Irish Whiskeys – a 5 year old blend of malt and grain whiskey ages in bourbon casks. The perfect choice in a whiskey old fashioned.
